Hiking tip Rehbachklamm – Good to know:

We start with some important information about this hike:

• Plan 2 to 2.5 hours for your mountain experience, as the entire route is around 7 kilometers long.
• 280 meters of altitude have to be overcome and the highest point of the circular hike is at 1,200 m above sea level.

Let’s go and have fun:

This family-friendly hike starts in Scheffau, our neighboring village. You can get there by hiking bus or by car – you will find a parking area behind the Scheffau parish church in the center of the village. After a few minutes uphill along the road, you will find the entrance to the small Rehbach gorge on your right.

Now the hike can begin:

Now follow the deer stream along the forest path. The trail offers a variety of charming natural motifs – take your time to discover and enjoy the beauty of nature: cross the stream with its charming bridges and footbridges, listen to the rippling water of the small waterfalls, watch the play of light and shadow as the wind softly blows through the woods. The different shades of green of the fresh leaves of the plants will fill you with new strength and energy.

A tip for hiking with children:
Especially at the beginning, there are shallow, wide watercourses that invite you to build “Steinmandln” together.
But be careful! Never leave your children unattended in the water!

Once you have reached the upper part of the gorge, the tour becomes a little more challenging: a steep climb now leads to the end of the gorge. Discover the mining tunnel from the 16th century on your way.

The ascent is done!

Once you have conquered the gorge, you are now faced with a vast alpine landscape! The impressive mountain backdrop of the Wilder Kaiser massif is reflected in the small pond. Let your gaze wander over the blooming meadows and the fascinating mountain peaks and follow the gently ascending path to the “Hinterschießling Alm” mountain hut, situated at around 1,000 m above sea level.

The well-deserved break:

The “Hinterschießling Alm” awaits you with specialties from the region, some of which come from our own production! Our tip: try the homemade cake – it’s delicious! And those who like it hearty can also taste special culinary specialties here: Angus cattle are bred on the “Hinterschießling Alm” and so you will find Angus ham and Angus salami on the menu!
The Alm is open to all hikers from Tuesday to Sunday from 10:30 am to 6 pm.

Tip for families:
In addition to the well-shaded sun terrace, the Hinterschießling Alm offers a small play area, a fountain for splashing around and alpacas and rabbits for the children to watch.

And now back to the valley:

Strengthened with regional delicacies and with renewed energy, you finally make your way back. Take the same path back to the edge of the forest via the pastures of the mountain pasture. Here you come to a wide gravel path leading into the valley. Follow the path through the forest – consciously enjoy the peace and quiet and the wonderful forest air! Your next point of reference is the “Jägerwirt”. Follow the road here and you will soon reach the village center of Scheffau!
